Come Preparedĭepending on how cold the day you are shooting is, I would recommend bringing hand warmers with you. The timing is much more ideal and you’re able to get that perfect golden glow that a lot of couples strive for – just like Sunny + Kevin’s images. My suggestion is to head towards golden hour aka as the sun is setting. We don’t want to shoot too early, because mid-day sun can be incredibly harsh and tend to wash us out. As we know, during the winter, the sun sets much earlier and we lose light quickly. With a winter engagement session, timing is everything. You don’t need to have beautiful leaves and cascading florals to have some beautiful photos, just sayin’. However, this is the perfect opportunity to find a location that truly speaks volumes all in itself. The trees are bare and if you’re looking for tons of it in your engagement session, I’m sorry to disappoint. A lot of photographers will have availability in the winter time for engagement sessions and it will give you more flexibility with which date you choose. However, this season is vastly overlooked and it really can be one of the perfect times to get your engagement session done. When it came to deciding on locations for their engagement photos, Sunny and Kevin really appreciated the simple and modern look of the Rodin Museum while still being right in the middle of Philly. This is definitely one of my favorite locations to take engagement photos. You’re surrounded by world-renowned sculptures and art, and the architecture here is impeccable. The Rodin Museum is a beautiful landmark in Philly where many locals (and out-of-staters) visit. Winter Golden Hour Engagement in Philadelphia However, after a quick discussion, we decided to have Sunny and Kevin’s winter golden hour engagement in Philadelphia at The Rodin Museum and The Barnes Foundation. As much as we love the brisk winter air, standing outside for extended periods of time may not be the most ideal. When deciding on where to take their engagement photos, it was imperative that we chose the correct timing. Despite the slight chills of that winter weather, Sunny and Kevin’s engagement session was a really beautiful one.
